Before You Redesign Your Los Angeles Business Website
Decide what the website needs to accomplish before choosing its new look. This brief helps separate a design problem from a content or inquiry problem.

Choose the customer you want more of
A website can look current and still attract the wrong work. Begin with the services you want to sell, the projects that fit your team and the locations you can genuinely support. “More traffic” is too broad to guide a useful redesign.
For a Los Angeles business, a citywide label may hide important differences. A company that visits customers needs to explain its working area. A business that welcomes visitors needs accurate arrival information. Write down which experience you actually offer rather than asking a designer to guess.
Bring three examples, not a folder of preferences
Choose one recent inquiry that was a great fit, one that was not and one question your team repeatedly answers. Remove private customer details. These examples reveal what the site should explain before someone contacts you.
Next, select a few competitors or unrelated websites and identify the specific thing you find useful: clear project descriptions, a quick way to compare services or an uncomplicated contact form. A reference is a conversation starter, not a design to reproduce.
Decide what to keep
List the existing pages, photographs, useful downloads and contact routes. Note which pages have evidence of search visits or inquiries. Do not discard useful information simply because the layout feels old.
Google’s site-move guidance calls for mapping old URLs to their appropriate new destinations when addresses change, testing the new site and monitoring the move. Ask for that migration plan before launch, not after customers encounter broken links.
Give the proposal a measurable job
Our recommendation is to agree on a small set of acceptance checks: someone can understand the main service, find relevant proof, use the site on a phone and reach the right contact route. Confirm who receives inquiries and test the complete path with dummy information.
Search Console can help establish how Google crawls, indexes and serves the site. It is one source of evidence, not a substitute for knowing whether inquiries fit your business. Record available baseline data and clearly mark what is not yet measured.
Use this decision brief
We want more of this work: ___. We genuinely serve: ___. The customer needs to understand: ___. Evidence we can show: ___. Existing pages worth keeping: ___.
The first release should fix: ___. After launch we will watch: ___. The person checking received inquiries is: ___. This turns a redesign from a visual exercise into a shared plan.
